Indoor Soccer League This program is a lot of fun! Registration is held in the fall. First and Second Grades Third/Fourth, Fifth/Sixth, Seventh/Eighth Grades Play Sunday games at NVOT $50.00 registration fee 2009 Northern Valley
Indoor Rec Soccer Guidelines for Play 1) Rules of Play: We are going to follow the sections of the PVISL rules that pertain to actual playing of the game. These rules can be found at www.PVISL.com on the Internet. Sections covering Finances, Age, Referees, Protests, etc., can be ignored. We are concerned with the rules governing play. 2) Length of Games: a. All games will fall into a 45 minute time slot. Therefore, all games regardless of division, should be limited to 18 min halves with a 3 minute break b. All games must end promptly at the allotted time regardless of the time left in the game. Therefore, if a game starts late, the duration of the halves must be shortened such that the games end by the end of the time slot. For example, a game that starts 10 minutes late should fall back to 15 minute halves so as to keep the schedule on track. 3) Prompt Starts: a. Referees: Time is precious and therefore the referee should be urged to always start on time, even if a team is short or there has been no warm up. b. Coaches: Plan on the game starting at the exact start of the time slot. Prior to the game, teams can stretch and warm up without a ball out in the hallway. Do not plan on pre-game floor time. 4) Goalies: A player may only play goalie for one half of the game. 5) Number of Players: a. Division 3 (7th and 8th Grade) 5 plus a goalie b. Division 4 (5th and 6th Grade) 5 plus a goalie c. Division 5 (3rd and 4th Grade) 6 plus a goalie 6) Winning: Teams should not win by more than 5 goals. Put your stronger players back on defense, reduce the number of players on the field, shoot from mid-field, it doesn’t matter what you do but by all means do something to keep the score within 5 goals. 7) Referees: Most of the referees are high school kids. They will make mistakes, but they are trying their best. Offer suggestions at halftime or after the game if appropriate (do this constructively) but yelling during the game will not help. Yelling also teaches our kids the wrong thing. Remember, it is only a game and there are not playoffs and no standings! 8) Let the kids have fun! Provide them with plenty of positive encouragement. |
